First of all, I want to preface this blog post by saying THIS WAS THE JOB OF A LIFETIME. How can I even say that this is my job?! its so absolutely surreal to me that I get paid to do things like this. I am grateful every day for every opportunity and for every human being that asks me to capture some of the biggest moments of their lives.
Elaina & John had their amazing, non-traditional hearts set on an Icelandic elopement. And how can you blame them? This place is out of a dream. These mountains are crazy. There are volcanos. Lots of sheep. Amazing waterfalls and rock formations. It's almost like it's another planet. And the people are so kind and hospitable. I feel like I can't even call this just an elopement. It was an adventure. I photographed every single day. We just enjoyed exploring and eating and drinking coffee and forging rivers and climbing mountains.
Elaina & John were so grateful to have me there to capture their every moment. They were so laid back and wanted me to have as great of a time as they did. It was also a really awesome bonus that all of us are vegan, so we had a great time finding all the vegan gems in the country - and I was surprised at all the options!
It was chilly every day, and it also rained every day except one. The wind in this country is no joke! We were able to see the Iceland sun for a brief moment on the day of the elopement, which was INCREDIBLE timing. We got golden rays to compliment Elaina & John's black attire and I really couldn't be happier with the photos.
Since the natural features of Iceland are so incredible, it was really important to me to make sure that we captured as much of that as possible while still making sure each photo was about Elaina & John's love story. We stayed in Reykjavik but explored mostly the west and south parts of Iceland. If we had more time, I would have liked to make it around the entire island! (continued below)
